Bul Bul

Bul Buls are most common birds around and they are very much used to the human presence and so they will give us always a good pose while shooting. They come close to us and not at all scared our presence.
4 Types of bul buls are recorded in Bangalore in which 3 are very common and found all parts of the town and out skirts , Yellow throated bul bul is also found in Bangalore  ( very few places like nandi hills and northern side and east side)  which is vulnerable as Per IUCN. This rare bird in endemic to eastern ghats and some part of western ghats. I have never seen them , hope in my Bangalore birding journey one day we will meet for sure.

Prinia

Plain Prinia, Taken near Bethadasapura, Begur road April'14

Prinia's are most common in Bangalore, small birds , very noisy , but are very beautiful when you look closer, Two types of prinias I found till now in Bangalore, Plain Prinia and ashy Prinia,  In My experience ashy prinia's population is much greater than that of plain Prinia. They dont want too much space to live so you can find then all over the city near bushes , not seen on the tall trees. They are very busy always but not at all shy as they are used to the presence of Human.

King Fishers

Common Kingfisher or Small Blue Kingfisher , Lake Near Singasandra, Jan'14

Kingfishers always will be on the top if we take the list of most beautiful birds in the world, Bangalore area we can find common kingfishers , White throated Kingfishers and Pied kingfishers, from my experiecne white throated kingfishers have the higher population compared to common kingfishers , Pied kingfisher's population is even less and they often see near the lakes which are situated the outskirts of Bangalore city. Many other types are found in the west cost and the east cost of India , Oriental dwarf kingfishers, Blue eared Kingfishers, Stork Billed kingfishers, Black Capped kingfishers, Collared Kingfishers in which Oriental dwarf Kingfishers are my personal favorites and I wish if I have time to go to Goa cost to take a good photo of those.

Pied Kingfisher, Taken at Gulakamale Lake , Near Bannarghatta Park , April'14

The specialty of pied kingfisher is that They don't need any perch to sit and watch the fishes , they hover in the sky  above the lake or river and got a great eye sight to see the fishes under the water. Photography of kingfishers are very easy as they will perch on the same place for a long time and normally you will get a bokeh as they also want one side of their perch empty to watch the prey.
